This online on-demand 20-minute seminar gives a comprehensive understanding of the hospital reimbursement landscape for medical devices in Norway. Available as pre-recorded webinar or full presentation in Acrobat PDF
Norway is a very attractive market for medical device companies.
Despite its relatively small population, Norway is a very rich and innovation-friendly country. However, due to a number of factors, market access is the most complicated compared with other Nordic countries.
Entry into the Norwegian market can be a challenge both from both reimbursement (DRG system) and funding (approval for use within hospitals) perspectives. Due to a significant (up to 50%) contribution to hospital revenue, DRG tariffs have an important role for medical procedures. Also, since 2013, all significant innovations should undergo a national or local evaluation before they can be approved for use in the Norwegian health care system (“New methods” framework).
We offer a seminar on critical elements of the hospital reimbursement system for medical devices in Norway that can guide your decision-making about the introduction of novel technologies into this complex market.
Key stakeholders are reviewed, including payers, policy-makers, advising organizations (health technology assessment) and support bodies (developer of procedural classification/DRG system)
Money flow and distribution of funds, an overview of the hospital payment system (DRG system and global budget), the process of development of the DRG system
Detailed overview of funding framework for medical technologies (“New methods” framework), health technology assessment landscape, general considerations for market access
Some topics are not specifically covered in this seminar: reimbursement model in out-patient settings, reimbursement for medical aids (devices for home use) and in-vitro diagnostic tests, funding of capital equipment.
The introductory presentation also does not include details of reimbursement application processes (for example, application form, requirements, details of the process for the creation of procedure code or DRG change)
Topics that are not covered in this seminar will be included in future courses. You can subscribe to our newsletter and inform us about your particular interests on the main page of the Market Access Academy
